November 1-3: at our Main St. shop
This is a 3 day in person workshop at our Charlottesville shop. We will meet on Friday November 1 from 5PM-7PM to discuss fit, sizing, and basic alterations. If time allows students will cut out the paper pattern pieces. On Saturday November 2 we will meet from 9:00AM-5:00PM. Students will cut out and mark pattern pieces then start sewing. On Sunday November 3 students will continue sewing from 10:00AM-2:00PM. The goal is to finish the pants before class ends on Sunday.
We suggest bringing your own sewing machine (in good working order), if this is not possible (or convenient) you can sew on one of our studio machines.
Are you ready to start sewing your own Handmade Wardrobe? The Chanterelle Pants are a beginner friendly pattern with three views and endless styling possibilities. They are a wardrobe staple and a great introduction to pants sewing.Ā
Pattern Details:
The Chanterelle Pants are an easy fitting elastic waist pant with three views. View A is a full length, wide-leg pant, View B has a cropped leg silhouette shaped with a pleat and a cuff at the ankle. View C is a pair of shorts with the same waist/hip fit asĀ view B, but with a 3" inseam. In this class you can choose to sew view A or view B.
Use this classic, building-block pant as a jumping-off point for a variety of pant styles that will serve you well for years. Chanterelle will fill any gap in your wardrobe and be an all-seasons piece for years to come.
These pants can be sewn in a variety of fabrics from a soft linen to a heavy denim depending upon your desired look. They can also be sew and worn as pajama bottoms.
Sizing Details
The Chanterelle Pants are offered in sizes 0-34. and are drafted for a height of 5'5". They can be lengthened or shortened as needed.
See a detailed size guide and finished garment measurements for the patternĀ here.

We have made every effort to be size inclusive in selecting our Wardrobe Basics patterns. During class we can grade between the sizes included in the pattern but we will not have enough time to completely grade up or down to a size not included in the pattern. The Chanterelle Pants are sized to fit a waist from 25" - 57.5" and a hip of 33.5" to 61". If you have questions about sizing please contact the shop.

We recommend purchasing a solid fabric in a cotton, linen or cotton/linen blend for the class. You should consider your first pair a 'wearable' muslin, so maybe don't use the most expensive fabric. If you want help with fabric choices come see us in the shop. For the class we suggest using a solid fabric so we don't have to deal with pattern matching during cutting and construction. Flat bed sheets also work well for sewing garments. After working out any fit issues you can then sew another pair in the dreamiest fabric you want.
*We offer volume discounts on fabrics which should apply to most yardage required for this pattern.
Preparation required:
Pre-wash, dry, and press your fabric as needed before class.
Please familiarize yourself with our class policies before enrolling.
