Deren is the owner and founder of EWE. She has been making things for as long as she can remember. She loves to knit sweaters, sew her own clothes and dye yarn and cloth with plants she grows in her garden. Deren loves teaching knitting and gets great satisfaction from seeing people start and finish a project they thought was impossible for them to do.
Part-time knitter, full-time graduate student and dog mom, Jacqui has been knitting and teaching others to knit in Charlottesville since 2012. She especially likes to knit anything with stranded colorwork, stuffed animals, and dog sweaters. She started sewing her own handmade wardrobe in 2017, and she can't imagine wearing RTW anymore! Whenever she is in the shop, she is accompanied by her sweet pup, Raii. You can follow them both on Instagram @jacquelinecieslak.
Pam learned as a teenager to do the two basic stitches, knit and purl. But no one ever taught her how to cast on or bind off, making it very difficult to knit any projects. Many decades later, her daughter-in-law taught her how to cast on and she took to knitting like a duck to water. These days, with many more skills under her belt, Pam loves helping other knitters figure out their mistakes!
Jessamy is a former elementary school teacher, and self-taught knitter and sewist. She initially started knitting and sewing for her kids, but quickly found joy in making for herself. Building a handmade wardrobe has become an important part of her life. Jessamy loves being a part of the maker community and is excited to be able to combine her love of sewing and teaching here at Ewe. She is always happy to talk fabric and patterns with everyone who comes in to the shop. You can follow her on Instagram @jessamybmakes.
