1st and 2nd Sunday of the month, 2 PM – 4 PM
Beginner Knit Club meets most first and second Sundays of the month for 2 hours in person at our West Main St. shop in the Old Albemarle Hotel building.
If you have never picked up a knitting needle, are picking up the needles again after a long time or know some basic stuff but need help, then this is the class for you.
Sign-up is for a single class and you decide how many times you want to come. For absolute beginners we recommend coming at least twice. If you want to sign up for multiple dates you need to add each class date separately to your cart. Classes are intended for adults only.
Skills to be covered:
- knit stitch
- purl stitch
- cast-on
- cast-off
- weaving ends
- mattress stitch
- how to read your knitting
- how to fix dropped stitches
- or anything else you may need help with
A note for lefties. Lefties have the option to learn mirror knitting but we recommend first trying to knit continental (holding the working yarn in the left hand) or English style (wrapping with the right hand). There are pros and cons to each method and we are happy to discuss.
Materials:
Please bring to class, or plan to purchase on the day of class:
- one skein of wool yarn, heavy worsted - chunky weight
- size US 9, 10 or 11 circular or straight knitting needles (depending on your yarn)
*Students receive 10% off any supplies purchased for or on a class day.
About your teacher:
