Saturday, September 27th, 9AM-6PM
The September 27th class is now sold out. You can add yourself to the waitlist, which will help us gauge interest in adding another class date. Those on the waitlist will get first notice of another class date.
This is a one-day in person workshop at our shop on West Main St in Charlottesville, VA. There will be a Zoom meeting on September 22 at 7:30PM to prepare for the in-person workshop.
Description: This is the class we get the most requests for!
In this workshop you will use a combination of flat patterning and draping to 'clone' a garment you love. Caroline will walk you through the process of creating paper pattern pieces for your garment. You will then sew a 'mock' garment in muslin to test the fit. Finally pattern pieces will be adjusted and students will go home with their pattern pieces, basic instructions on how to sew their final garment and fabric recommendations to reproduce the look of the original garment.
Skill Level: You should feel confident at a sewing machine and have at least some garment sewing experience to participate in this class.
Materials/Supplies:
- Included in your class fee is 3 yards of each, muslin fabric and pattern paper.
- You can use one of our studio sewing machines or bring one from home.
- We have scissors, rotary cutters, pins, rulers, marking tools, and everything else you might need.
Preparation required:
Choose a simple garment you want to clone. The garment should be made from a woven material (not a stretchy knit fabric).
For class day you may want to dress in clothing that is easy to measure over, drape fabric over and try on over (leggings, sleeveless top). We do have private places to change so don't stress about this too much.
Plan to attend the Zoom meeting on September 22 at 7:30PM. Caroline wants to see the garment you want to clone in class.
Please familiarize yourself with our class policies before enrolling.
