The Patterns
Fall is the perfect time to cast on a cardigan! Join us as we knit cardigans together, the perfect garment to keep you warm, from fall all the way through to spring. We know that knitting flat, picking up stitches, and working button bands can feel overwhelming and we're here to tackle those steps together!
For this Knit Along we are creating a curated list of patterns and yarns, but feel free to choose any cardigan pattern that works with your own wardrobe.

Cardigan No. 9 by My Favorite Things
Cardigan No. 9 is a classic, slightly oversized cardigan featuring distinctive saddle shoulders, which which add character and catch the eye. The back and yoke are shaped with short rows to ensure a good fit. The sleeves are wide at the top and taper towards the wrist, with the sleeve cap shaped using short rows. The neckline consists of a double-knitted section and a ribbed edge, adding an extra touch of elegance to the cardigan.

DRK Everyday Cardi by Andrea Mowry
The DRK (DreaReneeKnits) Everyday cardi is knit from the top down, beginning with the folded collar. It can be worn with either the knit or purl side facing out, with just a few simple tweaks to the directions (which are included in the pattern). The raglan “seams” from the yoke are carried all the way down to the hem of the cardigan. The body is knit flat, and the sleeves are knit in the round. The button band is worked using an applied double knit technique for a beautifully polished finish!

Dunes Cardigan by Caidree
The Dunes Cardigan is slightly cropped, drop shoulder, deep v neck that buttons up at the front. It is a classic design with a modern twist. It will keep you cozy and in style during any season.

Zakkuri Cardigan by Noriko Ichikawa
“Zakkuri Cardigan” is an oversized cardigan worked from the top down. “Zakkuri” means casual, comfortable, thick fabric“ in Japanese, and as the name implies, this cardigan has a relaxed fit.
It starts at the neck, and after the neck shaping, the yoke is worked to the underarms. The sleeves are then separated and the body is worked flat to the hem. The sleeves are knit in the round to the cuff. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck and the neckband is worked in ribbing.

Travelers Cardigan by Ozetta
The Traveler’s Cardigan is worked from the top down and is closed in the front with buttons. It features back shaping and dropped shoulders for a relaxed fit. The sleeves are designed to be loose and finished with a balloon cuff. The button band is worked as you go which means less finishing work. A classic design meant for everyday wear.

Step by Step Cardigan by Florence Miller
The Step by Step Cardigan is a classic raglan cardigan, perfect as one of your first knitting projects. It is knitted from the top down, and the sleeves are knitted in the round. The simple design is finished with clean double knitted edges. The cardigan has a full video walkthrough available.

Petra Jacket by Petite Knit
The Petra Jacket is worked from the top down. First, the back yoke is worked back and forth on the needle with increases. Then the shoulders are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the back yoke. The body is worked back and forth on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles or on a circular needle using the Magic Loop technique. At the end, double-knitted front plackets are worked along the front edges, and then a collar is worked in rib.
How does the KAL work?
KAL stands for knit along. In a KAL knitters typically knit the same or similar project. During the KAL, knitters get support to help navigate any tricky parts, learn a new skill, or trouble shoot along the way.
The KAL is not a typical class, but Jessamy and Elise have ample knitting experience and will be able to answer questions, or help with any issues that crop up. We also have a lot of fun and the meetings are quite social.
The cost of the KAL is a deposit that will be applied to your account as store credit. It is good for the 30 days following your registration. If you chose to knit from stash or purchase your yarn elsewhere, your payment is considered a participation fee.
This KAL will run for six weeks. We don't expect everyone to finish their tee (or sweater, but maybe a tank!) during the KAL, but we are hoping everyone has a good solid start and feels confident to finish at their own pace. We also strongly encourage you to come to our weekly Makers Circle
