Jessamy was part of the testing group for the newest pattern from Open Studio Patterns, The Remote Tote. This tote bag features multiple pockets inside and out, strategically placed for maximum efficiency. There’s a dedicated internal sleeve for your water bottle and multiple options to add a luggage handle strap, as well as internal and external pockets. The zipper closure allows all of your contents to stay inside, even after sliding it under the seat in front of you.
Our bundle comes with everything you need to sew the tote. Our sample uses Big Sur Canvas for the exterior and a fun cotton/linen canvas for the interior pocket and water bottle sleeve. We sewed the external pocket, as well as the internal pockets and water bottle sleeve, and of course added the zipper closure. Our sample uses a print from a previous Ruby Star collection that we no longer have in stock, so we have paired the new Bookhou Gather collection for this bundle. We have included enough fabric to sew all of the optional features.
Remote Tote Bundle includes:
- 1.75 yards of Big Sur Canvas
- 0.5 yard of Bookhou Canvas
- (1) 14" zipper
- (1) spool of Mara 70 weight thread*
- 1 14/90 sewing machine needle
For this bundle we have paired the Big Sur Canvas and Bookhou Canvas, as well as the color zipper. You will simply need to choose your Mara 70 thread! We know not everyone loves a strong contrast, so wanted to give you the option to go subtle or bold!
Fabrics are paired with the zippers as follows:
Big Sur Canvas/Zipper Color
-Royal Blue/White Zipper w/ Brass Teeth
-Red/Red Zipper w/Brass Teeth
-Navy/Navy Zipper
-Charcoal/Black Zipper
-Mustard/Mustard Zipper
-Unbleached/Rust Zipper
Finished tote bag dimension:
- 18” wide X 13” tall
- Strap length measures 24 1/2”
- Strap drop measures 10 1/2”
If you want us to print your large format pattern you can do that here.
We quickly sold out of the bundle using the Royal Blue Ventana Twill in Jessamy's version. You can still make a version in this color by purchasing some Brushed Bull Denim in Royal. This material and all of the other fabric and notions you need to sew the Remote Tote can be found here.
*We love using this thread in both our bobbin and needle for these types of projects. It pops just like topstitching thread, but can also be used for construction. This eliminates the need for switching between threads, allowing for a more seamless sewing experience.
