The Patterns
We know some of you are more hesitant to commit to a summer garment, so we wanted to bring you together for some inspiration and camaraderie as we tackle these warmer weather knits!
For this Knit Along we are creating a curated list of patterns and yarns, but feel free to choose any tee or tank that works with your own wardrobe.
(Please note these links will take you to the Ravelry Pattern page for each suggested pattern)
-
Relax Tee by Aimee Sheer. This simple raglan top includes garter ridges to create a bit of visual interest on what is sure to be a wardrobe staple. It can be knit with either long or short sleeves. We love Knitting for Olive Pure Silk for this pattern.
-
Albina by Caitlin Hunter. Albina is a simple, classic summer sweater knit from the bottom of up featuring stripes. Deren is currently knitting this one up in Mungo from Retrosaria, a wool/cotton blend, perfect for throwing on as a summer layer.
-
Grapefruit Pink Lady by Thea Coleman. This beautiful piece features a delicate all over lace pattern. It can be worn on its own in warmer months and layered in the winter. The pattern is written for a worsted weight yarn, but we've been wanting to make it in Willow ever since we saw Little Fox's sample last year.
-
Farnham Tee by Knit Purl Girl. Jessamy knit this sweater last year using Knitting for Olive Pure Silk and Cotton Merino held double. Another great option would be Line.
-
Nostie by Rebecca Clow. A sweet drop shoulder top with eyelets and garter ridges, it can be knit with long or short sleeves. The pattern recommends Sandnes Garn Line, but we also think it would be amazing in
-
Petite Pointelle Tank by Jessie Mead is a pretty pointelle tank. We think this would be incredible in Equinox Sport by Magpie Fibers.
-
Ivy Top by PetiteKnit. Ivy top is a classic boat neck tank, knit from the top down. It is written for fingering weight held double, and we think Trio 2 by Isager would be great for this simple elegant tank.
How does the KAL work?
KAL stands for knit along. In a KAL knitters typically knit the same or similar project. During the KAL, knitters get support to help navigate any tricky parts, learn a new skill, or trouble shoot along the way.
The KAL is not a typical class, but Jessamy and Elise have ample knitting experience and will be able to answer questions, or help with any issues that crop up. We also have a lot of fun and the meetings are quite social.
The cost of the KAL is a deposit that will be applied to your account as store credit. It is good for the 30 days following your registration. If you chose to knit from stash or purchase your yarn elsewhere, your payment is considered a participation fee.
This KAL will run for five weeks. We don't expect everyone to finish their tee (or sweater, but maybe a tank!) during the KAL, but we are hoping everyone has a good solid start and feels confident to finish at their own pace. We also strongly encourage you to come to our weekly Makers Circle
