Sundays 4-6pm; September 4, 11, 18, 25 and October 2 & 9
Please note this is an in person KAL that will take place in our Charlottesville, VA shop.
Elise and Jessamy have cooked up a fun fall KAL! The Shifty collection from Drea Renee Knits has been a popular choice among knitters for years, starting with the Shift Cowl all the way through the re-release of the Shifty 2.0 sweater earlier this year. We have had this sweater on our "to knit" list for quite a while, and with the revamped pattern and newest shipment of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool in the shop, it seemed like the perfect time.
The Shifty is a yoked sweater that uses mosaic knitting to create color "blips". This is a perfect introduction to two color knitting, without having to do stranded color work. The pattern is available on Ravelry.
From the designer:
This sweater is all about being playful and having fun with color! One colorway is used consistently as the “background” while 3 contrasting colors make up the textured colorwork using the Mosaic knitting method! This is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe - it looks fabulous with high waisted pants and skirts, layered under overalls and pinafores or over dresses and tunics!
We have just received a good restock of Spincycle "Dyed in the Wool", the recommended yarn for the Shifty Sweater. We also have a good supply of other yarns suitable for the pattern if you prefer something else. Drop by the shop for help selecting your perfect yarns!
How does the KAL work?
KAL stands for knit along. In a KAL knitters typically knit the same or similar project. During the KAL, knitters get support to help navigate any tricky parts, learn a new skill, or trouble shoot along the way. The format is informal, so it is possible to join in at any time and it is not necessary to attend every knitting session.
The KAL is not a class but there will be an instructor (and other experienced knitters) at each session to answer questions, or help with any issues that crop up. We also have a lot of fun and the meetings are quite social.
There is no cost to participate in the KAL, but we do ask that you knit a project consistent with the KAL theme and purchase your yarn from us.
Get 10% off your KAL purchase, including yarn and needles. *Not to be combined with any other offers.
You do not need to come each week, and you can start your project at any point during the KAL. If you can't make it on Sunday evening, you can come knit your project at our weekly Makers Circle.
If you want to participate in the KAL please add it to your cart and check out (there is no charge). This helps us keep track of how many knitters to expect.
