Mondays 6-8PM: July 15, 22, 29, August 12 & 19
Please note: this listing is for local participants only! Jacqui will also be running an online KAL through Instagram and Ravelry, but you only need to reserve a spot here if you plan on coming to the shop weekly to participate.
Our in-house designer and teacher Jacqueline Cieslak is releasing a new pattern, the Rift Tee, and we are very excited to host a KAL with her! The pattern will be released on Friday, July 12, a few days before the start of the KAL.
RIFT is a lightweight summer tee designed in sport weight yarn at a loose gauge. It is worked from the bottom up, with a high-low hem and two neckline options — v-neck or boatneck — that you can work on the back or the front (or both!) according to your preference. The tee is designed for a good amount of positive ease (10-12"), and includes instructions for a custom fit bicep.
Recommended yarn, gauge, and needles:
The pattern was designed with Linea from Little Fox Yarns, a lightweight, super soft sport weight yarn with a bit of tweedy texture and subtle variegation. We have also knit it in Magpie Fibers Solstice and Erika Knight Studio Linen — and during the KAL, Jacqui will be making a wool version out of Cultivate from Valhalla Farm Fibers. Drop by the shop for help selecting your yarn!
Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows over 4” in blocked stockinette stitch
Recommended needles: one US 8 (5 mm) 32” (sizes 40-48) or 40” (sizes 52-72) circular; DPNs for sleeves if not using magic loop
How does the KAL work?
KAL stands for knit along. In a KAL knitters typically knit the same or similar project. During the KAL, knitters get support to help navigate any tricky parts, learn a new skill, or trouble shoot along the way. The format is informal, so it is possible to join in at any time and it is not necessary to attend every knitting session.
The KAL is not a class but there will be an instructor (and other experienced knitters) at each session to answer questions, or help with any issues that crop up. We also have a lot of fun and the meetings are quite social.
There is no cost to participate in the KAL, but we do ask that you knit a project consistent with the KAL theme and purchase your pattern and yarn from us. We stock a good supply of yarns for almost any pattern you choose.
Get 10% off your KAL purchase, including yarn and needles. *Not to be combined with any other offers.
You do not need to come each week, and you can start your project at any point during the KAL. If you can't make it on Monday evening, you can come knit your project at our weekly Makers Circle.
If you want to participate in the KAL please add it to your cart and check out (there is no charge). This helps us keep track of how many knitters to expect.
