Details:
Who doesn't love a cozy jacket with deep pockets? The Pekka Jacket fits the bill while being a beginner level sewing pattern. The pocket construction is clever and creates a deep sturdy pocket with a neat finish. The lining is sewn with a traditional 'bag' method and the designer has a clear video to walk you through the whole process. The jacket sews together surprisingly quick.
Deren sewed version 2 of the jacket with our much loved Jacquard Cotton from Merchant & Mill. She used a cotton print lining from the Quarry Trail collection. Outer layer in Arlo Grey, lining in Charcoal Oak.
The Jacquard fabric has a quilted pattern but Deren made no attempt to match the pattern and is perfectly happy with the results.
Sizing Information:
The pattern is generously sized. The designer's size table is in metric but we have converted the size table to inches here.
The fit is oversized, so if you fall between sizes you may want to size down. Deren is 5'1" has a 36" bust, a 38.5" hip and sewed a size 40. She could easily sew down a size. No modifications were made to the pattern.
A Note About Yardage:
The pattern yardage is quoted for 55" wide fabric. The fabric we are including in the bundle is 47" so we have added a little extra yardage. You may not be able to follow the layout guide in the pattern. We found that cutting some of the pieces flat (collar, and sleeves) made it possible to fit the pieces on the narrower fabric.
