We have been obsessed with the UNIFORM Knit & Sew collection since it was released last spring. This unique, trail-blazing book is a collaboration between two of our favorite designers: a knitting designer (Carrie Bostick Hoge of Madder Root) and a sewing designer (Jennifer Beeman of Grainline Studio).
Although several of us in the shop sewed tunics from the book this summer, now as we’re gearing up for fall, we’re turning our attention to the knitted sweaters. The UNIFORM collection features one sweater pattern in a range of different style options and yarn weights — the perfect project for a KAL because we can discuss the different options with each other and compare our different knitting experiences!
While this is primarily a KAL (more on that below), we also encourage sewists to join us in making the tunics from the book — so perhaps we should call this our first ever EWE make along! We are happy to help with sizing or fit issues if you decide you want to sew a tunic.
Dates: Mondays 6PM-8PM: September 10, 17, 24, & October 1, 8, 15
How does the KAL work?
KAL stands for knit along. In a KAL knitters typically knit the same or similar project. During the KAL, knitters get support to help navigate any tricky parts, learn a new skill, or trouble shoot along the way. The format is informal, so it is possible to join in at any time and it is not necessary to attend every knitting session.
The KAL is not a class but there will be an instructor (and other experienced knitters) at each session to answer questions, or help with any issues that crop up. We also have a lot of fun and the meetings are quite social.
There is no cost to participate in the KAL, but we do ask that you knit a project consistent with the KAL theme and purchase your pattern and yarn from us. We stock a good supply of yarns for almost any pattern you choose.
Get 10% off your KAL purchase, including yarn and fabric. *Not to be combined with any other offers.
You do not need to come each week, and you can start your project at any point during the KAL. If you can't make it on Monday evening, you can come knit your project at our weekly Makers Circle.
If you want to participate in the KAL please add it to your cart and check out (there is no charge). This helps us keep track of how many knitters to expect.
