Pattern Details
The Donny Shirt is a boxy pull-on top that is designed to be a workhorse in your wardrobe. It is a dartless top with a lapel collar and patch pocket. The Donny is a great everyday top that can be worn with practically anything. Because of its boxy silhouette, the Donny is comfortable but still cool. Pair it with jeans or a skirt, layer it over or under a dress - the sky’s the limit!
We have chosen our new Sicily linen/cotton blend for this bundle. Sicily is a brand new 55% linen/ 45% cotton woven with a washed finish. This fabric is made with flax imported from Europe, which is considered a premium and sustainable linen fiber cultivated without irrigation and is GMO free.
Our Sewing Experiences
We all chose to sew the Donny in White, for the perfect simple summer look. This top is easy to sew and even easier to wear. We have all really enjoyed sewing the Donny this summer (Jessamy has already made 3!) It sews up nicely in our Sicily which is very easy to work with. It has a lovely light texture, a little bit of softness/drape from the linen, but with the ease of sewing a woven cotton.
Shown here Deren is wearing the size Medium, with no modifications. Jessamy is wearing the size Small, also with no modifications.
Elise is wearing the 3X, that she made into a shirt dress. She did this by adding 14" in length to her pattern pieces, as well as cutting the back bodice with an extra 4" of width (added at the fold) for wearing ease. She purchased an additional 3/4 of a yard. to accomadte her adjusments.
