Thursdays, 6-7 PM
The Beginner Knit Club is designed to get you started on your knitting journey by teaching the basic skills as you need them to complete your first (few) project(s). This is the right option for you if: a) you are an aspiring knitter who has never touched a pair of knitting needles in your life or, b) you are a beginner who has done some knitting but would like hands-on instruction to improve and add new skills.
You are welcome to attend lessons as many times as you need, as frequently or infrequently as you would like. The only requirements are that you must be working on a project that uses the skills you want to learn and you must purchase your materials from us.*
The skills we teach in the Beginner Knit Club:
- long-tail cast-on
- knit stitch
- purl stitch
- joining new yarn
- how to read a pattern
- knitting in the round
- decreasing (k2tog and ssk)
- increasing (m1R and m1L)
- weaving in ends
You will not learn all these skills in one lesson. In fact, if you are unsure where to begin, we recommend breaking it up into four lessons. Here is a recommended sequence for covering all the basics:
All of the projects are from the book KNIT HOW so you will need to have a copy of the book for all of the lessons.
