Our Pressed Flowers Shawl bundle comes with enough yarn to knit this beautiful pattern by Amy Christoffers.
*The pattern uses mosaic knitting (which is easy) and the pattern repeat is charted. This is an adventurous beginner pattern.
We have been admiring this pattern since it was released but were waiting for inspiration on a yarn pairing. We have been playing around with combining different yarn types (worsted and woolen spun) in colorwork and have fallen in love with the combination.
For our background yarn we used Magpie Fiber's Swanky DK, which is a luscious jewel toned superwash, Merino, Cashmere and nylon. It is very smooth and a bit heavy with a nice round shape. For the flowers we used Daylights from Harrisville Designs, which is a creamy woolen spun Cormo dusted with color. This yarn has texture and is very light. The color in Daylights is hard to photograph but definitely shows up when knitting.
The combination of these two yarns is really spectacular, the flowers really pop and have some texture to them. The shawl has a nice weight (but not too heavy). The size is 72" across and 33" deep at the center point.
*We had yarn left over so depending on your gauge it may be possible to add one repeat to the shawl.
