The Patterns
Elise and Jessamy have colorwork sweaters on their fall wishlist and decided to host a KAL so you can join them! We know that color work can sometimes be daunting, and we thought we could tackle it together.
For this Knit Along we are creating a curated list of patterns and yarns, but feel free to choose any all over colorwork sweater that works with your own wardrobe.
(Please note these links will take you to the Ravelry Pattern page for each suggested pattern)
Jessamy will be knitting the Framed by Andrea Mowry. She will be using SpinCycle Dreamstate and Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino.
Elise will be knitting the Djo Sweater by Sophie Ochera, using Kaos Organic Soft Merino and Brushed Alpaca.
A select few other sweaters and yarns we love that are perfect for this KAL:
Instant Crush by Joji Locatelli. This would be beautiful in Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair. We also have Untold Silk Mohair and Kaos Brushed Alpaca, so you are sure to find a color palette that works for you.
Jupiter Crop by Caitlin Hunter. This cropped short sleeve tee is perfect for layer over dresses or long sleeve tees. This pattern recommends Vovo by Retrosia Pomar, but we also recommend Manos Alpaca or Cody Sport.
Clairdelune by The Petite Knitter. This classic all over Colourwork Sweater is simple but stunning. It even has an accompanying pattern for a matching bunny sweater! We think that Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino, Untold Supreme Wool and Brooklyn Tweed Shelter are all excellent yarn choices for the Clairdelune.
How does the KAL work?
KAL stands for knit along. In a KAL knitters typically knit the same or similar project. During the KAL, knitters get support to help navigate any tricky parts, learn a new skill, or trouble shoot along the way.
The KAL is not a typical class, but Jessamy and Elise have ample colorwork knitting experience and will be able to answer questions, or help with any issues that crop up. We also have a lot of fun and the meetings are quite social.
We are trying a new KAL pricing model for this KAL. The cost of the KAL is a deposit that can be applied toward the purchase of yarn to be used for your Colorwork KAL project. If you chose to knit from stash or purchase your yarn elsewhere, your payment is considered a participation fee.
This KAL will run for six weeks, and while you do not need to come each week, we will have general topics regarding colorwork to go over each week. We don't expect everyone to finish their sweater during the KAL, but we are hoping everyone has a good solid start and feels confident to finish at their own pace. We also strongly encourage you to come to our weekly Makers Circle
