Come learn how to use a serger sewing machine in a fun and supportive environment!
This 1.5-hour class will teach you the hows and whys of sewing with a serger. Once you have the basics of sewing on a regular sewing machine down, learning how to use a serger can really up your sewing game. We will cover, how a serger differs from a regular sewing machine, the parts of the serger, different stitch and tension settings, and do some practice sewing on woven and knit fabrics. We will also go over the basics of how to thread a serger. You will leave understanding how a serger works, and feel confident to add serged seam finishes to your sewing practice at home or here in our studio.
You do not need to bring a machine to the class. You will sew on one of our Janome or Brother machines in the studio. If you want to bring your serger from home for help with threading we should have time in class to do that.
No preparation is required but you should feel comfortable sewing on a regular sewing machine before you take on using a serger machine.
Please familiarize yourself with our class policies before enrolling.
